I agree completely and, even though I have a 7.1 surround speaker system, I hate it when a mono track has been badly encoded and comes through the front surrounds rather than the centre channel. If a film was made in the 1960s (for example) with a mono soundtrack, I'll always choose that option from the menu rather than a brand-new DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track.

Saying that, some of the surround tracks on the new HD releases of classic Disney films are extremely good!
