It's been nearly 20 since the erotic thriller boom, which means it'll be coming back into fashion again soon. This could be a solid option |
I thought dead calm handles the suspense better and I dont think deodato made the best of the potential of the situation - that stuff with the ****ing with painting could have been played better (there was so much potential with that and I felt it was largely squandered).
Thats not to say I dislike the film. Just that aspect was not as good as it could have been- the power struggle between Eirem and Giorgio was so well handled. That side of the film was spot on.
A friend of mine informed me that this film was an extension of a theme in Polanski's Knife in the Water but I havent seen that so cant say.
