I know about the TV show, but haven't watched any episodes yet. A film based on the TV series should be able to stand on its own merits and not require any knowledge of a previous incarnation. |
Most of the people dismissing the film did on the basis of the idea and plot rather than the film that they had watched. Sort of how that woman didn't like his adaptation of Sweeney Todd because it was full of music, knowing the background of the film would have told her it was a musical knowing Dark Shadows was based on a successful TV series does make you look at it differently.
