Yes that was strange about Clockwork Orange, Kubrick never spoke publicly in interviews about his decision to withdraw the film. I wonder who these people were sending death threats? An unusual reason for a director to withdraw his film. Of course the tabloids insist the reason was because of copy cat behaviour, but of course they would say that wouldn't they.
The film only had a very limited release anyway at the time.
