Generally speaking, I never found those films which set out from the very start to be "disturbing" disturbing. Really, if you have t try that hard to be shocking and offensive, then odds are you really don't have anything really that interesting to say to begin with.

One thing that really offends me in films is nihilism, and more especially the fake, hipster, empty posturing brand of nihilism. For me, watching a film should be an "uplifting" experience. By this I don't mean a film has to have a "positive" message, but that it should show me something that makes my emotional investment in it a profitable one. Films like A Serbian Film, Life and Death Of A Porno Gang, or the Guinea Pig films, these films I find offensive, not for their graphic depictions of sex and violence, but because they're so dreadfully mundane in them.
