Mr Eye - define 'horror'!
I remember when I was at college, we had a discussion regarding 'horror' films. The usual topics came up - 'Zombies', Dracula', 'Frankenstein', 'werewolves' etc
However, I suggested (and maintain) that those kind of films are
NOT horror films, but actually fantasy films. Horrific and scary maybe, but essentially fantistique
As far as I'm concerned,
TRUE horror films are things like '
The Godfather', 'Taxi Driver', 'Texas Chainsaw', 'Apocalypse Now' - i.e things that could and
DO happen.
In view of
MY definition, I would say that '
Blue Velvet' is certainly a horror film
Pretentious and over-rated, of course, but definitely a horror film
