I read a fun interview with Raimi where he was saying the studio kept trying to persuade him to 'tone down' the 3D. He was like 'No way! If I have to make a 3D film, I'm making it like they did in the 50s and 60s, and throw as much stuff at the camera as possible!'
Good to hear a director embracing what 3D essentially is: a cheap gimmick (he says as much in the interview)
