Another good reason for buying a BluRay is the Upscaling of SDVD to Hi Def.

One thing though, some of the entry level players have been surpassed in tech spec as some are older models , so the upscaling abilities wont be nowhere like the mid to top range players or PS3,

That Sony for £180 you got sounds like it was a good buy Bio.

My mate bought a entry level player ( £149 ) from a brand i'd never heard off , and as he expected its settings where a bit basic & limited, but the playback was below average imho compared to the PS3, using Casino Royale as the comparison disc, but it really was poor in the extreme when it came to Upscaling SDVD's.
In the several sdvd's we tried there was little to no difference than made by upscaling .

He returned it and paid £40 , no sorry £60 extra and got a Sony entry level model and you could immediately notice the difference for the better when we done the same comparrison test as before.
I think its best to go for well known brands at entry level for the best results as although all players will playback in 1080p, the playback quality and upscaling abilities vary greatly in some brands.
