Yes, I agree. I know FG is known for its sardonic approach, but Brian was a much-loved character, and to take him out in such a way seemed more than a little cold. But again, that's probably the FG thing. Although I've only seen five seasons of South Park, I watched the infamous Chef episode and was actually shocked at how mean-spirited it was. I know they had a fall out with Isaac Hayes, but the whole scene seemed petty and cruel.
No reason why it can't be funny, but to be so dismissive is like two fingers up to the loyal fans who, animation or not, have grown to love the characters over the years.
