Captive Wild Woman (1943).
A typically loony scientist doing experimentation in glandular research becomes obsessed with transforming a female gorilla into a human. Captive Wild Woman is one of the worst Universal horror films i've ever seen. The film seems hamstrung by its circus trappings and the seemingly contractual constant over exposure of the lion and tiger taming acts to the point where its meagre hour running time feels overlong.
The gorilla transformation effects were decent and the highlight of a lacklustre film. The usually excellent John Carradine seems to be phoning in his performance and the films main attraction Aquanetta, was a disappointment, failing to raise the film to anything approaching satisfying.
