Aftermath

After the battle with the invading fleet from Andromeda, Star One has been destroyed and the Liberator severely damaged in the conflict. Zen informs the crew they will have to abandon ship as it will need to disengage life support in order to use all functions to repair the damage with its auto repair systems. The crew all take life pods.
Avon carrying ORAC, lands on a beach on the planet Saron and is found by a girl named Dayna and helped to her families underground settlement as the natives are hostile. Unfortunately for Avon he soon discovers Servalan has also crash landed on Saron.
Meanwhile, on the now functioning Liberator, someone else has boarded the ship first.
The first episode of series 3 is pretty impressive. Apart from a few brief scenes on board the Liberator with Vila and Cally, Avon is the only crew member we follow. He quickly forms a bond with Dayna and when her family are killed by Servalan and the barbarians it becomes clear she will end up on the Liberator. Gareth Thomas (Blake) and Sally Knyvette (Jenna) did not return for the third run and are only mentioned as having abandoned the ship before the others.
The episode does drag a little on the surface of Saran as tensions and rivalries surface between all concerned. However things pick up dramatically in the final reel when Avon and Dayna realize the Federation got to the Liberator first.
Doctor Who fans will notice Richard Franklin (Mike Yates of UNIT) has a brief role as a Federation guard.
