Poltergeist (2015)
If you watch this film on its own merits, with the expectations of a PG-13 horror film it is actually quite decent for three reasons (stars);
1 star for the outstanding acting by the two younger children; it really makes you care for the fate of Maddie.
1 star for some quite inventive visual sequences among the generic jump scares (which tbh I thought there would more of) and quality cinematography throughout.
1 star for the quirky character of Carrigan, again played very well by Jared Harris, who is involved in some genuine moments of humour which never felt out of place.
3/5 stars.
