The BBC Worldwide have announced a whole host of new television DVDs in time for Christmas and they have a handy video for you to get a taste of what is available.

The very best in British Comedy

Enjoy a night in the company of one of Britain’s top comedians at the top of his game. John Bishop Supersonic Live at the Royal Albert Hall (released 16th November on DVD and Blu-ray) was recorded at the end of a sell-out UK tour and sees Liverpool’s favourite son musing on fatherhood, fame and football.

Peter Kay's Car Share (released 23rd November on DVD and Blu-ray) broke records when it premiered on BBC iPlayer earlier this year, becoming the biggest comedy to debut on any UK channel since 2011. Thrown together in a company car-share scheme John (Peter Kay) and Kayleigh (Sian Gibson) get off to an awkward start before an unlikely friendship blossoms to the soundtrack of Forever FM on John’s car radio.

Following the success of the first series, Karl Pilkington’s The Moaning Of Life makes a welcome return. The Moaning Of Life Series 2 (released November 23rd on DVD and Blu-ray) picks up where series one left off, charting Karl’s discovery of how other cultures face up to some of life’s big questions. The Moaning Of Life Series 1-2 box set will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on the same date.

TV legend David Hasselhoff is back on the small screen with semi improvised comedy Hoff The Record (released 30th November on DVD). Playing a spoof version of himself, The Hoff arrives in the UK in an attempt to revive his flagging career. But 30 years since his rise to worldwide fame in Baywatch and Knight Rider things have gone a little stale. Will a move across the Atlantic and some new faces in his life change his luck?

Also out on DVD in time for Christmas are IT Crowd 2013 Special (released 9th November on DVD) starring Chris O’Dowd, Katherine Parkinson and Richard Ayode and Lee Mack Box Set (released 30th November on DVD) featuring three stellar stand-up titles from the award-winning comic: Lee Mack Live, Lee Mack – Hit The Road Mack and Lee Mack – Going Out Live.

YouTube favourites

Made by the production team behind BBC Worldwide’s Top Gear special commissions, Joe and Caspar Hit the Road sees YouTube sensations Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee front a one-off feature length special that takes them on an epic European adventure. Joe challenges Caspar to survive the trip using only the money they can earn each day, so the twosome - who have over 10 million YouTube subscribers and over a billion total video views between them – will be offering themselves up for employment in a series of unusual tasks such as learning to be gondoliers in Venice, working as deckhands on a superyacht, and performing on Barcelona’s famous Las Ramblas. Joe and Caspar Hit The Road has already broken pre-order records on Amazon to become its biggest selling pre-order title just one day.

Compelling Drama

Doctor Foster (released 12th October on DVD) stars Suranne Jones (Scott & Bailey) as the eponymous Doctor Gemma Foster - a trusted GP at the heart of the community. But, suspecting her husband (played by Bertie Carvel of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell fame) is having an affair Gemma embarks on an investigation which propels her life, her family and even some of her patients, into chaos

Nail-biting crime drama From Darkness (released 16th November on DVD) tells the story of Claire Church (Anne Marie Duff, Shameless), a former police officer who moves away to the remote Western Isles in an attempt to escape the past and violence that still haunts her. Soon, Claire is pulled back into an investigation that she thought she had long left behind her. Nicola Walker (Last Tango in Halifax) and Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars) star in a new six-part crime drama Unforgotten (released 23rd November on DVD). When the bones of a young man are found beneath the foundations of a demolished house, detectives reopen an investigation into a 39 year old case, which has yet to be solved.
