To the Devil a Daughter creeped me out. I think Father Michael Rayner is one of Lee's best Hammer roles.
There's an interesting documentary on the Optimum DVD which looks at the history of the film. The project was doomed from the very beginning. Dennis Wheatey hated the final version, and vowed to never let Hammer adapt any more of his books, there were constant re-writes, and Richard Widmark was impossible to work with on set.
Hammer never saw any of the money that was made from the box office.
