Plugging 'Action' and '1980-1989' into my search filters returns a fair few films that I wouldn't necessarily class as 'action' films yet certainly have action elements to them e.g. Beverly Hills Cop, Blade Runner, Ghostbusters, The Hidden, Tetsuo, They Live, The Thing... so it's going to be difficult to know where to draw the line where 'action' is concerned. |
It is a tough one, but completely subjective. As far as I'm concerned, the Indiana Jones films are action-adventures, so qualify as action films, though they aren't as associated with the genre as something like Missing in Action 2, Commando or The Killer. Buddy cop movies such as Red Heat, Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, or 48 Hrs. could feature quite heavily because they are so action-oriented.
