Heads up people

The Bowie at The Proms concert is on BBC4 tonight (Friday) between 10:15pm - 12am

"Marc Almond, Laura Mvula, John Cale, Anna Calvi – they can be heroes! Tonight, they’re headlining an eclectic clutch of musicians honouring David Bowie in a concert that Proms director David Pickard deftly slipped into his schedule in the wake of Bowie’s death in January.

Coming live from the Albert Hall, this fought-over sell-out (1,350 standing tickets will still go on sale on the day) is masterminded by André de Ridder and performed by Stargaze, his “genre-defying collective” who are based in Bowie’s old haunt, Berlin. The thrust is to “reimagine” rather than slavishly reproduce the Bowie back catalogue. There’ll be fresh interpretations of classic works spanning Space Oddity (1969) to Blackstar (released days before he died).

Summary
From London's Royal Albert Hall, a celebration and reinterpretation of the music of David Bowie with the Berlin-based, musicians' collective s-t-a-r-g-a-z-e and its atistic director Andre de Ridder. They are joined by guest singers and collaborators, including Marc Almond, Laura Mvula, John Cale, Paul Buchanan, Conor O'Brien, Amanda Palmer and countertenor Phillippe Jaroussky, and with arrangements from Jherek Bischoff, David Lang, Anna Meredith, Greg Saunier, Josephine Stephenson and Michel Van der Aa. This rare collaboration aims to deliver a unique re-imagining of the Bowie catalogue with fresh interpretations of his classic works."
