I've seen
Slow West twice and thought it was excellent, enjoying it more the second time around. Kodi Smit-McPhee puts in his best performance to date, with Michael Fassbender predictably compelling to watch. It is beautifully shot and an engrossing watch, so highly recommended.
The same goes for
The Homesman, which you should expect with Oscar-winning actors Tommy Lee Jones and Hilary Swank in the lead roles, with Jones also directing. It is a fascinating story and shows the hardship of frontier life – again, highly recommended.
I considered both for my list and somehow forgot about them in the 'honourable mentions'.
