Rumour hath it (seemingly confirmed by the opening scene not being shown to the press) that the 2 part finale opens with the regeneration, though the new actor is not seen, but that Capaldi regenerates at the end of the season into the new actor (who will nonetheless not get a line until the close of the Xmas special).
Expect the new Doctor to be announced in the next week if true!
