Given the July the 4th link I've opted for American independent cinema. I've not included any of Corman's AIP stuff as while AIP were not a major studio they were big in the drive in market. Plus AIP films would be a list in themselves. I've included several major independent horrors from the 60's and 70's that were genuinely either self financed or had the money invested by dentists and lawyers. I've thrown lynch's debut in there as its totally self financed and independently made. I've also tried to include at least one or two films from the rise in the late 80's & 90's of independent American cinema with Jim Jarmusch, Hal Hartley ect....
