Well, as mentioned in the Alice thread, I don't think a lot of his later output measured up to the earlier recordings
I grew disillusioned with Metallica after the '...Puppets' album. I got the '...Justice' and 'Black' albums, but (other than a few odd songs), they left me cold. Saying that, I do have the covers album, which I like, but that's possibly because it has the punk/NWOBMN attitude, and reminds me of the bands I grew up listening to
When it comes to Maiden, the death knell (on record, at least) was when Blaze Bailey joined. I had everything up to that point, but I didn't bother getting the 'X-Factor' album, and I have not got any of the subsequent releases. However, I did see them live on the 'Virtual XI' tour and I do have all the live DVD releases, apart from 'En Vivo', because I saw it broadcast on telly, and I found the editing very off-putting!!
