With Ronin, there was no need whatsover for that subtitle. It was never on the film before, and no-one even goes in there. They also put one saying Main Post Office over a building that's quite clearly a Post Office, which again, has never been there before. They're distracting and look cheap & nasty, especially as place names have burnt in subs with a particular font. |
I don't have those Bruce Lee releases, but subtitles like that are completely unnecessary. The ones that are different and unintentionally amusing are the ones that say things like 'Ominous Music' or 'Funky Jazz'.
I don't have the Ronin BD and am a little dissuaded from buying it now because pointlessly identifying buildings is likely to be, as you say, distracting.
