With the limited scope of films in multiplexes, arthouse could apply to such films as The Shape of Water, Lady Bird, The Big Sick and Get Out, none of which have been screened in the Cineworld or Vue the. One of the best films I saw last year was Loving Vincent, definitely an arthouse film.
I'm sure he'll mention The Exorcist when it comes to horror, Blade Runner in sci-fi, Pan's Labyrinth in fantasy and The Shawshank Redemption to illustrate the power of word-of-mouth and the home cinema market.
