I've recently watched the first series and first episode of the second series of DAMNED, the Channel 4 'comedy' series. I use the word 'comedy' advisedly because it is a series with some funny moments but it appears to portray the world of social work in such a vérité manner that there are frequent downbeat scenes.
In that respect it is very reminiscent of the other shows starring Jo Brand: GETTING ON and GOING FORWARD, about nursing and community care work, respectively, using observational humour to show the issues facing people doing crucial work in today's society, often for low pay and with insufficient resources.
If you haven't seen any of them, they are all highly recommended.
Aside from that, I'm halfway through the second series of COLUMBO and I'm really enjoying working my way through the large box set which I bought some time ago. The plotting is very clever and the guest stars, from Ida Lupino to Leslie Nielsen, John Cassavetes to Ray Milland (twice so far) and Honor Blackman make it even more interesting to watch.
