You seem to have watched enough of the different
Star Trek series to know that staying within a tried and tested formula is not necessarily a bad thing. Similarly, the 1980s version of The Twilight Zone had some great episodes. I've only seen the 2003-2009 version of
Battlestar Galactica, but I can't see how the 1978 incarnation would be any better and, although I haven't seen either, the 21st century
Hawaii Five-O is generally considered superior to the original show and apparently
Star Wars: Clone Wars improved on
Star Wars: The Clone Wars – I think you've seen both so might have an opinion.
I know it's not the same, but I thought the TV show
Bates Motel was excellent, and thoroughly enjoyed
Westworld, both spin-offs from feature films or, if you prefer, a different way of adapting the source material.
