1989 - Nicholas Countney made his final appearance as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart in "mainstream" Doctor Who. Prior to his death in 2011, he continued to play the role for the BBC Children in Need special Dimensions in Time, audio adventures from the BBC and Big Finish Productions, spin-off productions from Reeltime Pictures and the Sarah Jane Adventures story Enemy of the Bane, although ill-health prevented him from appearing in TV Doctor Who again when the show came back in 2005
