By this time, they were halfway through recording the 'Tommy' album, and Daltrey had dropped the smart suits and neat haircut that he used during their MOD phase and was beginning to adopt the fringed suede outfits and long, curly hair that characterised his 'rock god' look of the late 60s and early 70s.
