Leaves Eyes used to be one of my fave bands in their earlier days. Vinland Saga is a classic of the genre. The band were a natural progression from Theatre of Tragedy who i also loved, especially their later electro stuff, but following the Njord album the cracks in Leaves Eyes began to show and it was obvious something was not right behind the scenes.
Their albums seemed more up their own arses than ever, well up Alex Krulls' anyway. His divorce from Liv Kristine effectively wrecked the band and i stopped buying the albums.
Loved the band live as well. Saw them supporting Paradise Lost at Manchester Academy on the Vinland Saga tour, met and chatted with Liv for a while after their set. She came across just how i hoped she would.
This new song appears to be the best thing they've done since 2009. I twill be interesting to hear what their next rack is like from the new album.
