THE POLICE ARE BLUNDERING IN THE DARK
A number of fashion models are being murdered and all are linked to a wheelchair bound photographer, in this rarely seen Giallo.
The murders are sufficiently gory, there is plenty of disrobing from the cast, but like a lot of ‘lesser’ Gialli, this one drags in the middle ( including a dinner table scene that seems to go on for about a week ).
However it kicks back into gear towards the finale in true bonkers mode, when we discover said photographer ( who looks like a cross between Bob Dylan and Salvador Dali ) has invented a machine that can photograph people’s’ thoughts (!)
Obviously not up there with the classics, but great to a Giallo I’d never seen before - part of Vinegar Syndrome’s wonderful Forgotton Gialli Blu-ray set.

MACABRE
Lambert Bava’s first directed movie, this charts the descent into madness by a woman who has recently been released from psychiatric care, following the death of her lover in a car crash in which she was the passenger.
Her original cheating on her husband at the expense of her children comes into focus early on, when her daughter drowns her younger brother in the bath and making out it was an accident ( this was the reason for her returning in haste in the car that led to the accident in the first place).
Bernice Stegers gives a terrific central performance, mirrored by an equally impressive one from Veronica Zinny as her increasingly dangerous daughter.
It’s a slow moving film, but a fascinating one. 88Films Italian Collection have done a terrific job on this Blu Ray - it’s never looked better.
