Complete listing of moviedrome

The Moviedrome archive

Moviedrome is (or "was") a BBC2 series where a cult movie (but what is cult?) was introduced before it was shown. Moviedrome first showed up in 1988 when cult director Alex Cox hosted the introductions (he didn't choose the movies though). Cox hosted Moviedrome (shown every summer) till 1994. In 1997 the show returned from the dead with movies chosen and introduced by Mark Cousins (known for his work at the Edinburgh Film Festival).
The reason for this page is simple: with a Moviedrome film your chances are slightly higher than 9/10 that what you’ll get to see, will be a very interesting movie. A Moviedrome film will always be "special". In the Cox era Alex Cox described the selection as oddities and gems; Mark Cousins described his choices as "movies you won't forget". It was Moviedrome that gave my love for films a boost (and I know I'm not the only one) and it's because of this show my site is called Kurtodrome.
The links will guide you to the IMDb page where you can read more on the movie. The brackets will explain the reason those movies were presented as a double bill. If there are no brackets explaining the double bill that means the BBC just showed them one after the other (or I didn't figure out the link).
Big thanks to everyone for additional help (much appreciated). I hope that now the list is finally complete.

THE 1992 SERIES LOOKED LIKE THIS
A lot of Moviedrome fans liked the King Kong spoof intro best, so I decided to include it here (even though the Cronenberg double bill introduction isn't included in the clip). But first, a BBC trailer for Farewell, My Lovely, tomorrow at 9.00 on two.

Not the Moviedrome version, but here Alex Cox does introduce The Parallax View (also shown on Moviedrome in 1988). This was part of Kennedy Night. Anyway, enjoy the intro.

If you liked the Moviedrome mini-series of spaghetti westerns, you may be interested in the Five Westerns series Alex Cox made for BBC Four in 2008. Alex Cox also uploaded the introductions on YouTube. Part 1 includes Fort Apache and She Wore A Yellow Ribbon, Part 2 has Wagonmaster, Run of the Arrow and Searchers 2.0 (by Cox himself).

More Spaghetti Western introductions by Alex Cox, this time for ITV4. The series was called Once Upon A Time and included Django, Django Kill, Vengeance and My Name is Nobody. (Only these introductions were found on the net. The series also included Quien Sabe, Keoma and Texas Addio.) Django Kill was also introduced by Alex Cox in 1995, for the Forbidden season. Here's that version.

Cox spoofed himself by introducing the last show of The RDA with John Gordillo as if it were a Moviedrome film. Watch it now.

And finally, "discerning enthusiasts" (as I believe the BBC called the fans) might like to know the original Moviedrome guides can now be downloaded on Alex Cox's website (as well as lots of other treats by the filmmaker).
