Chariots of Fire (1981)

A first time viewing of this British classic this evening and to be honest i was left underwhelmed.

It's a sports movie and i wasn't in the least bit emotionally invested in it. Good sports movies generally leave me drained and often with a wobbly lip at the achievement of the victory or the narrowest of defeats but i felt nothing whatsoever.

It didn't seem to use the great score from Vangelis what i would call correctly either. It all goes back to that emotion part. It should have been blaring out in victory as finishing lines were crossed, making the viewer want to go crazy, but no, let's just have it as the guys run along a shoreline to begin and end the film.

The whole thing was simply too much like stiff upper lip film making for me.
