First scene script meeting:

Chibbers: Let's think up something really 'out there' that can't possibly be realised with the CGI budget we can afford and then let's give our two main characters (who have limited acting range anyway) the most wackiest, risible, undeliverable dialogue we can think of. Yep, that ought to draw the audience in and get them on our side...

Doctor Who has always (well, at least since Patrick Troughton) been a little bit wacky, but it used to be the wackiness was incidental to the drama. Now the drama is incidental to the wackiness...

Where this was played straight it was good... unfortunately, there was very little of that...
