Before he became a film composer, working with Nicolas Roeg, Brian De Palma, Joe Dante, Lucio Fulci, Luigi Cozzi, Ruggero Deodato, Michael Winner, George Romero and Dario Argento (amongst others), in 1965 Pino Donaggio wrote and recorded a song called 'Io che non-vivo'
In 1966, the lyrics were translated into English and recorded by Dusty Springfield under the title 'You Don't Have to Say You Love Me'
