Although I know the premise of
The Color Purple, I haven't read the book or seen the Steven Spielberg film adaptation.
If I'm right, I know part of its fame comes from the record-equalling ignominious feat of failing to win any of the 11 Oscars for which it was nominated.
If the trailer is an accurate representation of this upcoming film, it will be an emotional and powerful experience.
