The first edition of 'The Making Of Doctor Who' book, by Terrance Dicks and Malcolm Hulke, was originally published in 1972, and the Doctor Who Exhibition at Longleat opened in April 1974, where it remained in situ until 2003 - almost 30 years

There was a huge fan basis for Doctor Who before 'Revenge Of The Cybermen' in 1975 and a lot of people would have remembered the symbol when it appeared in later stories
