i have to agree with you all here, ferrera is a genius and his films get nowhere near the kind of respect they deserve.
i've heard that abel owns a much longer print of 'cat chaser' which he sometimes shows at festivals, and i wonder if there is any way of contacting the man and getting this released?
also, 'mary' - why isn't this available anywhere?
the funeral is my favourite gangster film of all time, from billie holiday singing gloomy sunday, vincent gallo's portrayl of a corpse, chris penn's best performance (he really is the devil in this film, and he can belt out a song as well as any blues singer, seriously that scene is amazing!), the blacker than black colour scheme, christopher walkens 'i know im going to roast in hell' speech, del toro's visciousness as casper, i really think it's better than godfather goodfellas and all the rest of them. i only have the uk release, is there a reccomended version with better specs i should track down?
but yes in general abel ferrera films are in serious need of the deluxe treatment over here in the uk, and i would hope that arrow and shameless will step up to the challenge at some point in the not to distant future
