Very nice. I'll be picking both of these up, plus I'm glad that I haven't purchased Kino's release of Baron Blood.

Also, I've moved this thread to the Arrow archive section.

Hawkmonger 7th January 2013 05:05 PM

Oh yes indeed, and as there wont be slipcase editions they will look nice next to my ordinery editions of Black Sunday and Lisa and the Devil.

Mr 37

Knowing that there are a number on metal-heads on the forum, why do you do this?

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath (live paris 1970) - YouTube

*Note - watch the early part of this video. and take note of Iommi's fingers - he lost the top of them in an industrial accident in the 60's, and had to reconstruct them himself (due to the fact that medical knowledge at the time was not advanced enough to do it itself)

I do most sincerely apologise to all metal-heads who thought the Prince of F*****g Darkness was bringing out a new film

LoBo 7th January 2013 05:55 PM

Great. I have waited for Black Sabbath to be released on Blu-ray. I will buy it.

Buboven 7th January 2013 06:02 PM

As long as the disc doesn't have any faults ala Zombie then Black Sabbath will be my favourite Arrow release yet.

bgart13 7th January 2013 06:13 PM

The MGM HD transfer is incredible, so as long as that's what is used and the compression is done well, that'll be a wonderful release. Hopefully BARON BLOOD goes well too.

Arrow releasing one of Mario Bava's masterpieces, Black Sabbath. Great.
No Limited Edition in a slipcase? Not so great.

:mmph:

Greetings!

Buboven 7th January 2013 06:35 PM

As much as i like the slipcases, it is still quite usefull for me to have a dual version personally.

I'm quite happy to give them up by this point. Let's have a second wave of nice transparent cases at the cheaper price!

Greetings!

I agree id rather pay to extra for the slipcase to match the collection.

JAMIOUSE 7th January 2013 07:09 PM

I have to say that Baron Blood isn't a favourite of mine, I only watched it once when I bought the Bava Box all those years ago. Now Black Sabbath is a different matter!

Nemesis 7th January 2013 07:16 PM

I enjoyed Baron Blood, but what clinches this release for me is that Four times that night is also on the BD. Big draw for me.

Jinx_Barkman 7th January 2013 08:26 PM

Black Sabbath is one of the best horror films of all time in my estimation. Baron Blood is quite good as well. There are so many good things being released in the coming months it's hard to keep up with all of it!

BAKA 7th January 2013 09:29 PM

Over the moon :woot: Cannot wait for either.

Four Times that Night deserved a release on its own.:(

That's an extremely odd pairing. Four Times is a 'sexy' comedy whilst Baron Blood is a moody, atmospheric horror. Why would they lump those two together?

fuzzymctiger 8th January 2013 06:38 AM

I hope they're putting a transparent case in the slipcase, because, then I can take them out, put them next to these 2, and still have the slipcases

PaulD 8th January 2013 07:08 AM

have they said these will be slipcase releases?

No slipcase editions apparently.

platostotal 8th January 2013 07:50 AM

Great news, 2 cracking releases for 2013, now... Blood and Black Lace and Rabid Dogs on the cards, maybe?

That would be the announcement of the year!
I'm happy with my Bava DVDs for now, and will only buy those with substancial extras (like I Vampiri on Black Sunday), but BaBL would be a sure buy.

I might cancel my order of then 2 upcoming slipcase Bava's then. The only reason I was willing to pay a little extra was for Bava slipcase uniformity but that's out the window now.

Fantastic news! I like Baron Blood more and more each time I watch it - I think it will look superb on BD. Loving those covers, too.

I don't give a shit honestly, I chucked my PO on the LE for BS and LatD because the few extra pounds could be better used else where, Bay of Blood aside, the other Bava set's will look lovely and uniform in there transparent cases.

I'm guessing there's still more to come for Q2?

They did mention teasing a bit of the announcment, before this came

To be honest, after recent issues with Arrow, they should just come right out and announce the titles for Q2. Teasing is boring me now, just tell us what you're releasing. No amount of 'teasing' is going to generate much excitement anymore. It did once upon a time, but now they've abandoned Cult Labs (and all forms of quality control too, it seems) it's hardly exciting anymore. maybe it's just me, but I just can't excited about future Arrow titles anymore. I think they've just become another generic, non-descript DVD/BD label that occasionally release interesting stuff (if they get it right).

Arrows titles still interest me, but the teasing and the games don't. They've communicated very poorly on their Facebook page, and after doing a FUKCING CROSSWORD to work out the Q1 titles, only to be barraged by softcore, shit and some Bava, I was very dissapointed.

But High Rising have given me hope, by saying Arrow 2013 is almost entirely horror.

Daemonia 8th January 2013 12:16 PM

Despite some complaints online, I think High Rising do sterling work. I've always found their featurettes and interviews highly informative and very entertaining. High Rising are unafraid to ask the searching and sometimes uncomfortable questions - but it's the stuff fans want to know about. Their interview with Zarchi on the Anchor Bay/Starz BD of I Spit On Your Grave was very informative and answered some of the questions I had about the film and laid to rest some myths (like Keaton wasn't actually his wife at the time of shooting the film, an internet myth that I myself am guilty of repeating).

As for the animations, I like them. I know some don't, but come on, they last a few seconds. Hardly a huge time waster.

As for Arrow, I'll continue to support them if they release stuff I like and get it right.

Damn straight. They're doing splendid work, and I hope that one day, they can get their 42nd Street doc released.

I also quite like the animations, they're cute.

Also, right after my comments, arrow announced that the rest of the Spring titles are going to be announced at the end of the month, and include Horror, Thriller, Action, Erotica and Blaxploitation.

Blaxploitation? YESSS! :woot:
Erotica? NOOOOO! :fear:

Gojirosan 8th January 2013 12:48 PM

Why the backlash against Erotica?

:(

Well, sex sells. Anything with a hint of boobage will capture a certain demographic, I'm sure. Not my cup of tea, but they have to turn a profit I suppose. As long as they compensate us with some fine horror and/or exploitation fare, then I'll be happy enough. Let the raincoat brigade have their private wank to some 'continental' films if it means we get the kind of stuff we want.

And when I say 'not my cup of tea', I mean that if I want porn, I'll watch porn. I don't need to watch it dressed up as some kind of worthy arthouse masterwork. I like films that are mean and sleazy - but not 'erotica'. Go figure.

Well, there are many reason for me, but they're mostly personal.
My parents are fine with gory horror movies and stuff, but are not a fan of sex in movies at all. And well, I find it a bit awkward, with the idea that someone could just walk in, with the room with the tv in my house having not one, but 2 glass double doors

Plus, I'm never really going to buy it anyway. Maybe when I'm 18, but that is so far away in my eyes.

I'd just rather they release things that better suit the label in my eyes, as the only other real erotica theyve released before now, is the censored exploitation Bare Behind Bars, and a modern film Pevert which more fits in with Arrows Meyer titles.

Guess its just a personal thing

Same here really. I don't mind if it's balanced, say one erotica witha mix of everything else, but when we get 4 in one announcment like last time, 2 of which are censored, and one of those 2 banned in my country, it's a bit too iffy.

oaxaca 8th January 2013 01:06 PM

Please please please release these as limited editions with slipboxes so that they go with LISA & THE DEVIL and BLACK SUNDAY Arrow!!

Oh and I'm not bothered about the erotica stuff either for the record - call me a philistine if you will - but there are internet sites for that :p
