Inferno - The Extras I'll let Calum re-introduce the extra features that will be on this release. This is not a thread to discuss whether extras are worth it or not - that's for another place - they're happening and this is where they'll get analysed! |
A soundtrack??? |
Very excited for the Dario interview, it's always been one of his favourites even though hit was a ball-ache for him to finalise. Wonder how he feels 30 years on? |
Dario will be featured in ALL of Arrow's upcoming releases. It was utterly pointless to do these discs without his input. I also hope I'm not alone in saying that extras are a big appeal for people double-dipping with these movies (or first time purchasers). The feedback on City of the Living Dead would seem to indicate that. Now. Here's the full INFERNO listing: THIS AMAZING 30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION CONTAINS: - Reversible sleeve with original and newly commissioned art work - Double-sided fold out Poster - Collector’s Booklet featuring brand new writing on Inferno by Alan Jones, author of Profondo Argento - High Definition Presentation of the film (1080p) - Optional 7.1 DTS-HD/2.0 Stereo Audio SPECIAL FEATURES: - Introduction to Inferno by star Daria Nicolodi - Dario's Inferno (16 mins interview with Dario Argento) - Acting in Hot Water: An Interview with Daria Nicolodi (18 mins interview) - The Other Mother: Making the Black Cat (16 mins) In 1989 director Luigi Cozzi (a long time friend and collaborator of Dario Argento) decided to make the unofficial follow-up to Inferno and 'complete' the Three Mothers legacy. This feature looks at the torrid history of The Black Cat, with plenty of clips too! - Dario Argento: An Eye for Horror (57 mins) Mark Kermode narrates this documentary on Argento’s career including interviews with George A. Romero and John Carpenter - The Complete Dario Argento Trailer Gallery [18 films] - Easter Egg (5 mins of Dario Argento in English, with random memories of Inferno) |
Really looking forward to this.Argento always has something interesting to say. |
wow!! sounds amazing!!!!! a 16minute interview with dario argento!!! thats brill!!!! looking forward to it!! :D |
A package and a half,to be sure.Looking forward to seeing it. |
Sounds like a great package.:) |
Blows the original Anchor Bay (and later Blue Underground) release away! This is so ordered! |
I have got 3 editions of this picture and this version by arrow, is by far the best i have seen so far. I need to get this.:pop2: |
An eye for horror is a great documentary - saw it on Channel 4 years ago. Nice one. Will be buying this because I lost my VHS years ago and haven't seen the movie in ages. |

Any word on the resolution of the extras? SD, 1080P, 1080i? |
I'm keeping my ABUS DVD for it's intact status but the impressive and superior bonus material backing up Arrow's edition have been the deciding factor for me to pre-order their Inferno release. In principle, i would never normally buy a truncated DVD or BR when a complete version exists elsewhere. But the sheer number and wealth of extras have compensated for the censor interference imo and i suspect this may also be the case should Deep Red still suffer snips.:) |

I believe the Mark doc will not be in HD but then again... |
I am very excited for this release! City Of The Living Dead on blu-ray was a beautiful release, and Inferno looks to be just as good. I already own all these films on dvd, but am happy to double dip for blu-ray releases with new extras and put together in a such beautiful package, as Arrow has been doing. Keep up the good work guys! I will continue to support all your blu-ray releases of these Italian horror classics. :) I am also really curious to see the bit on Luigi Cozzi film "The Black Cat". I've always wanted to hear more about the story behind that film. And of course, listening to Dario and Daria talk is always a pleasure. |

Beautiful extras, even though I already own An Eye For Horror on a separate disc. I'm also curios to see whether they will be featured in HD! |

It will make a difference to some US customers. There was some disappointment with the COTLD extras that may influence people to not pick up this release if the extra goodies are not playable. Although there's no Blue Underground release to tempt people to stay local this time. |

US customers eager to see the Arrow COTLD extras - and with only a Playstation to play back on - can still get the DVD. |
Thanks for the speedy response. I'm sure just the fact that it's now uncut HD will definitely make up for the lack of playable extras in some minds. It's not just PS3s, though. There are many players that will not playback 50hz material. Even some HD TVs will not display 50hz. It's definitely something that, unless you've read something about it, brits wouldn't necessarily be aware of. I mean, the UK even had NTSC DVDs released, the prevalence of multi-format tvs and players... You'd think the whole world would work like that  Edit: I'm pretty sure the DVD wouldn't work on a PS3 either. It's the same 50hz/60hz, 25FPS/29.97FPS issue. However, most people who would import it, I'd hope would have a multi-region DVD player. |
I always found it strange that UK tv's and dvd players are capable of handling NTSC but US players etc, usually don't cater for PAL. |

Just found these and it'd be a great addition for this package (at 30 min. total) but probably too late (Tim Lucas, Irene Miracle and Keith Emerson @ 35mm screening of Inferno last fall): [1 of 5] [2 of 5] [3 of 5] [4 of 5] [5 of 5] Read my thoughts after viewing if you don't want any spoilers: SPOILER: |
Wow you guys really do treat us I bought the city blu ray and wow there is so much stuff on there thanks again and look forward to your other releases |
Im looking forward to seeing the extras :) Arrow always cater for those who love the extra features like moi  Will it not be possible to make the extras that have been filmed esp for this release in 1080P instead of 1080i? |

Can't wait for this - possibly my favourite Argento. I have the old Anchor Bay edition and the Italian DVD, but it will be great to finally have a release with some decent extras. |

Wouldn't mind giving it another go but God knows where the tape is now! |
It will be really tough to do a top-10 releases of the year, with this competing alongside The Exorcist, City of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, Martin and numerous other top releases will probably come to me as soon as I hit 'Submit Reply'! |

Inferno - The Extras Quote:
I'm not much of a Cozzi fan, with the exception of The Dark Is Death's Friend which is a great movie. |

I did catch The Black Cat on Sky last century (been dying to use that phrase LOL!) and it was...okay, but nothing more. I did watch it right through, so I guess I must have a higher tolerance for crap than most people. |
I like Contamination, it's cheesy as hell and has a superb Goblin score (later pinched by Bruno Mattei for Zombie Creeping Flesh) Cozzi's Paganini Horror is one of the worst films ever made. |
Quote:
Have you seen the UK DVD at all? I'm trying to decide whether it is worth picking up as I only have an old pre-cert VHS copy. |
