Simple design but still so great and far better than the original Arrow release. Thumbs up!

I actually prefer Rick Melton's painting as it gives the iconic image a nice retro feel and, without the lettering and other texts, looks great. That's why I bought a print which is framed on my wall, next to his painting for The Beyond.

To me most of his artwork (but not all) looks more like they would fit in a comic book than a DVD cover for movies like these. But i'm not british so i guess i just don't understand what many other here seem to do about his work :)

I'm a little too young to have these recollections, but I guess part of it is nostalgia and a fondness for the pre-cert video days when all covers were done this way rather than on a computer program.

I see your point but still i don't think Rick Melton capture how the VHS tapes looked like. This cover brings Beyond72's artwork to mind rather than Rick's artwork does for example :)

Fair enough - that's why alternate artwork panels is such a great addition to a DVD/BD set!

Thanks for the support RTZ. ;)

Obviously a painting takes a lot longer than a very simple bit of graphic design.

And while I might use a computer program, I nearly always try to create a "Retro" feel to my designs.

Whether I'm successful or not is another matter. :D

Funnily enough the top image I used is so iconic to me, simply because of the talents of Chas Balun. (RIP)

Good points. The image of the book cover isn't too dissimilar from the one Rick Melton painted for the Arrow Video Tenebrae release, but that's such an iconic picture and image, there probably would have been an outcry if it was something else!
