Lucio Fulci's Gates of Hell Trilogy (ArrowDrome) - Official Thread

LUCIO FULCI'S GATES OF HELL TRILOGY (ARROWDROME)

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...DVDFront3D.jpg

Three times the terror, three times the gore!

Arrow Video invite you to stand before Lucio Fulci’s Gates of Hell and pray for your very souls!

When an insane priest driven mad by evil commits suicide, he threatens to turn the small town of Dunwich into a City of the Living Dead in an Italian splatter masterclass of surreal zombie horror. Can a cynical reporter and a woman with a strange premonition unlock the terrible secret of why the dead walk again?

In The Beyond, a young woman inherits a crumbling New Orleans hotel that sits atop an entrance to hell itself. As the evil emanating from the basement grows stronger, the barriers between this world and the bleak purgatory on the other side become blurred, leading to an outbreak of rotted zombies, killer spiders and blind psychics.

In the third instalment, something hideous, violent and deadly lurks in the basement of The House By The Cemetery and some city dwellers are about to find out what when they move in. Will they survive the supernatural terrors or will the evil Dr. Freudstein triumph in a gruesome early 80s shocker so controversial it became an official video nasty.

Open the gates but be warned... You’ll never return...

A good collection if people haven't got them already on DVD or the City/Beyond Blu-Rays:)

bedorca 13th September 2011 09:49 AM

AAAAARRRGHHHH! Dilemma time!

First up, will these be released individually?

I have House and City on Arrow but not The Beyond
This set looks uber-sexy and I really want it, but don't fancy the double dip given how much extra great Arrowdrome stuff is on its way......

What do I do?

slaghammer 13th September 2011 10:18 AM

Does this mean the previous individual editions of these titles are going out of print? Still need to get The Beyond and City Of the Living Dead.

Demdike@Cult Labs 13th September 2011 10:39 AM

Nice set, with cool covers.

Again one for the Saturday afternoon shelf browser rather than most people on this site.

A good Christmas present for the newbie fan.

Agreed.

A great set to introduce the casual horror fan to the world of Fulci - and eyeball violence. ;)

Stick it next to the Romero Trilogy, and I'm betting sales of this one would soar!

Another double dip! \m/

What about this set/box on Blu, if it could come in under £50 I would find it very hard to resist. I think those with the seperate Blu discs won't bite but for those who haven't upgraded em from sd... surely a must buy. But it is a question of price, retailing (in shops) for £20-24-28 each make em £60-90, so a value Blu-box should shift like a good-un. Same goes for the Romero set. And the individual Blu discs could still be available for those already collecting em.

minnieskirt 13th September 2011 02:15 PM

will this be the corrected print of The Beyond with the sepia footage or still the botched up black & white one?

Based on some posts in the Romero trilogy thread it seems sadly that the "also available on blu ray" sticker is referring only to the already existing blu ray editions - the trilogy will only be available as a set on DVD. I hope they decide to offer bluray editions of the set though.

That's what I was wondering too.

I would imagine so, I can't see Arrow going through all that again with replacement discs etc, my guess is that it'll be disc one with the correct opening

Well said and i concur.

Indeed a suitable gift for those horror fans with less dedicated collector tendencies. But i suspect the likes of many of us here will be happy with the original Arrow releases of the relevant titles we already own. I know i am.

I agree and a good suggestion there.

Certainly a safe bet for those first exploring the rotten realms of Romero and Fulci. If you want to know why these gloriously gory guys are so respected by us hardcore horror fans then watch and learn!;)

Beyond72 17th September 2011 05:50 PM

Can't argue with 3 films like that all on one box set.

Splatterdragon73 18th September 2011 11:46 AM

Indeed, for the Fulci fan on a low income you can't go wrong with this release!:)

Of course it will be the corrected print.

The fire at Sony destroyed the incorrect master so all copies of The Beyond (whether in this trilogy or the Arrow Video version) coming out now should be the corrected version.

Will CITY and THE BEYOND feature both discs from the Arrow version or just disc 1? The two BEYOND commentaries are mentioned in the announcement, but are the commentary tracks from CITY present?

Exactly. £16.99 on Amazon.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 4th February 2012 04:29 PM

Some of their prices beggar belief!

No wonder smaller companies don't shift as many units as they'd like!

Gordon ****ing Gecko was locked up for less! :p

35 bob is a great price, £4.20 in new money!

Less of the "spack off" please Mr Hawkmonger, it's rather offensive.:)

Obviously not offensive enough for it to be said on an episide of Doctor Who? :P
But I'll tone the language down for decency sakes.
£35 for The Bronx Warriors Trilogy? I got mine for almost half that, £18.

Take it easy, boy! We all love a nice little rant every once in a while, but you should really watch your language. :tsk: :nono:

I did a search and Doctor Who was was came up for spack off. Only offensive if you don't like Doctor Who

Stephen@Cult Labs 5th February 2012 09:53 AM

And as for toning down the language, it wasn't that bad.I hear worse than that from kids outside. perhaps we can get a filter where everything that isn't all sweet and nice is censored, if people are offended by ballsac? Must've been disgusted at the movie Van Wilder then. :D

Make Them Die Slowly 5th February 2012 10:35 AM

Spack is an offensive term for people with learning difficulties, it's just the same as using the word nigger for black people or calling all women *****. That wouldn't be allowed on here so why should people with learning difficulties be allowed to be insulted.

Hawkmonger 5th February 2012 10:41 AM

The Hypocracy lies in the fact that I have Asbergers Sybndrome.
Personally I don't find Spack all that offensive. There are far, far worse out ther IMHO.

Stephen@Cult Labs 5th February 2012 10:59 AM

I knew what the word spack meant, but the phrase spack off makes no sense, as such, It's not offensive imo. If you told someone to honkey off, even though some people may find the word honkey offensive (I find it funny personally), the phrase is not offensive.

Stephen@Cult Labs 5th February 2012 11:00 AM

I'm just wondering what happened to the language filter on here. The c word used to be censored. Looks like someone's turned it off!

Good for you if you don't find the term offensive but other people do, myself included. And before all the anti pc squad start hounding me, I'm not pc as most of my posts show, however I have been out with a friend's brother who has Downes Syndrome and people openly called him a spack in the street. People who are physically different to others due to either learning difficulties or physical disabilities get abuse all the time.

:focus::)
