Just rereading all the interviews with him on his website, and I'm thinking the editor is to blame for this, seeing as he said it was at least a 700 pager well before he'd finished writing it, so I can't imagine what stuff has been trimmed. Hopefully we'll get an updated version a la The Stand!

Have you heard of Unearthed Films from the good ol' US of A? Of course you have, well it's head honcho is a chap called Steven Biro who wrote a book called Hellucination. It's about taking drugs, watching movies and finding God.

Sounds fun, right? (Arnie voice) WRONG! You get a brief intro into how Biro grew up and started a successful comic book store before bootlegging the most vile films he could find all over the internet. Horror, porn, bestiality, scat, deaths, decay and stuff that would turn your soul black.

So he decides to take shit loads of LSD or Psilocybin, add some nitrous oxide to the mix and watch movies like 2001, A Clockwork Orange and such to find and ask God just what is the deal here. His mind splits in to his Id and Super Ego who he likens to the Angel on one shoulder, the Devil on the other and believes that they are God and the Devil. He is tested, even sent to Hell itself to walk through the 7 Deadly sins. He passes, even God is impressed with Biro, as we are frequently told.

I was waiting for it to turn comical or at least have a message or meaning but he plays it straight faced the whole way through. Very bizarre and odd. The closest metaphor for me would be wanking in a mirror. If he actually believes this shit then I do feel a bit sorry for him.

Avoid like an STD. Now I'm gonna pop some mushies in a pot and put on Class of '84 to have a chat with God. He likes to be called Bob.

Picked up Stephen King's latest, Finders Keepers, this morning. It's the second in a trilogy that started with Mr Mercedes.

Picked up Chuck Palahniuk's new short story collection, 'Make Something up'. I don't expect it contains a story as twisted as 'Guts' but here's hoping.
