Firstly they are saying "DarkFest attendees will be getting a free classic DVD from 101, not a new movie. Among the choices: Tarantula, Mole People, Land Unknown, island of Dr. Moreau, Alligator People, and SSSSSS! If you haven't booked your ticket yet, you will be missing a treat!" and now they have added "As well as getting a free horror DVD, attendees at DarkFest will be getting a free limited edition mini-mag Dark Side brochure, which I must say is looking pretty spiffy. We will be selling tickets at Westminster this Saturday if you haven't bought yours yet!"

Pre-orders for DarkFest tickets have gone well and we have around 260 sold. I wanted to do a pre-sale because originally we were going to take one of the smaller 155-seat screens downstairs. Now we have a 550-seater, the Genesis main screen, which means we can take over the entire mezzanine and bar area upstairs for the day. Because of this we can also sell some more tickets on the day. All those who have bought in advance will have received their personalised, signed tickets, so don't forget to bring them along with you. I have just been round to collect the 2K DCP (Digital Cinema Package) screener of Lady Frankenstein, and Nucleus's Marc Morris offered me their restoration of Death Laid an Egg to screen in HD as well, but we can't fit it in unless we swap it for Corruption and Kev my good pal and designer has already designed our mini-mag brochure and sent it to the printers so he will kill me if I make changes. Maybe we will save that for the next DarkFest...

I was the 'unfortunate' soul mentioned in the magazine who had his wife's name placed in the Amicus book instead !. She ordered it for my birthday but somehow Hayley Meakin was added instead of Mark.Hopefully she's ordered this (highly likely) & things worked out better this time:pray:.I won't see it till Christmas either.

Well, this cover's gonna please some people on the forum!

"We are taking you back to the 1980s with the next issue of The Dark Side, so be sure to get your mullets in shape before this drops through your letterbox accompanied by a burst of cheesy synth music."

It would appear that there is going to be another 'DarkFest'

Accoring to FB postings, it's due to take place on Saturday, November 24th, although they "may even make it a two day one over Saturday and Sunday"

More information when it is given

Looks like the next issue (due February 15th) is going to be a retro thing!

"Five pages on the greatest film ever made in the history of motion picture cinema stuff. Oh yes. Edgar Wallace and Tod Slaughter up next, so don't ever say we are not in tune with the times"

Demdike@Cult Labs 27th January 2018 11:38 AM

Askey and Murdoch. Excellent. Will definitely pick up that issue.
