You guys are talking about the original Hills aint ya? lol
The remake I thought was pretty nasty even in the cinema release.
I doubt it would get a 15 anytime soon.

Angel 18th December 2009 06:23 AM

Yeah I thought the remake was more violent.

nekromantik 18th December 2009 11:10 AM

I love the remake :)
Aja did a amazing job with that and Haute Tension.
I think he is the new godfarther of gore :)
Even though Mirrors was pretty weak movie, the gore and atmosphere were excellent.

Here's a strange one.
I bought the blu ray of 2001:A SPACE ODYSSEY yesterday and it's a 12 certificate.
I still have the r2 boxset and it's a U.
Probably something in the extras eh?
However, the bbfc '12' logo on the back reads
'Contains mild threat and violence.'

The additional 2001: The Making Of A Myth documentary is 12-rated (presumably some swearing).

nekromantik 19th December 2009 11:18 AM

The whole unrated in the US thing dont really affect UK releases as 90% of the time, a unrated cut of a recent movie is always the same cert as the theatrical release. I dont rememeber any movies that got a upgraded cert because of a unrated cut. Passion of the Christ and Bruno are the the only movies I can think of but then again they both had been cut on purpose to give a lower release version.

And piss awful.

Give me even the sadly cut original "Hills" (damn that stupid 'R' rating) over that mindless mutants travesty.

Not a big fan of the Hills remake - but the family invasion sequence was bloody intense and well done. Aja knows how to build tension.

I don't think even that was as intense as the original's.

I refuse to support these (to me) pointless re-makes by going to the cinema or renting/buying the DVD...so I caught it on TV.
The film was as bad in general as the end of "Haute" was.

Without a stupid, cheating, twist to fart around with here I though Aja could do something with "Hills" as a whole, as good as he did with "Haute" until the end.
Seems he used the dumb**** part of his brain that gave us the ending to "Haute" to make all of "Hills" though.

I disagree. :dizzy:
I am not a remak fan but Hills and Dawn were the only remakes I loved.
Aja did a awesome job, he knows how to create tension and is good wth gore. Even though Mirrors was a disastor script wise, but the kills were awesome. Im lookin forward to seeing Piranha 3D.
