Look, I get it, I really do, the woman is a bitch and deserves punishment, but punishment by law, not mob justice that wants to kill her and anyone she's with. What's next, hanging for feeding a live mouse to a snake? Crucifixion for slaughterhouse workers.
It's perspective and it appears it's warped out of all recognition. We're a nation of animal lovers but a quick trip down to the nearest animal shelter shatters that particular myth.
You cannot seriously be stating that the reaction is right....can you?? | Obviously people react to these situations out of impulse and anger. It is doubtful that whether any of the serious threats (death etc.) were seriously motivated from the context where the persons threatening would act upon their claims. However, I'm sure it would have had the desired effect in as much to propagate fear and make the perpetrator of the act feel the pain, distress, and that awful feeling of the unknown, which the cat surely must have felt too.
However, I wouldn't have batted an eyelid if they had been killed. One less despicable c*nt in the world. ;) Quote:

I'm not some bleeding heart liberal who buries their head in the sand over animal rights though, I know what can and does go on in animal shelters and so-called nature parks, and whilst every event of cruelty is subjective, it is clear (to me at least) that maliciously and purposefully causing an animal to suffer distress, pain, and misery for the purposes of fun or personal benefit is not morally or ethically right.
EDIT: Noticing MTDS has posted since I started this reply, whilst some of my above post does 'answer' some of his points, in as much expand my personal views in a little more detail, as for the dog choke chain issue, this is indeed a touchy subject. Some people call for them to be banned, but there is a degree of disciplinary action that needs to be enforced when taking on a dog - particularly a large one, which some extremists fail to understand. Choke chains (at least not to the extent that some owners use them) are not always the answer, but for most are an easy option, rather than training and integrating their dogs properly.
There are a lot of people I've come across in my relatively short experience and limited sphere of travel who are clearly not fit to own dogs (particularly certain breeds) and just do it for either selfish 'status' reasons and to look tough. I personally think there should be laws regarding certain breeds of dog in as much as there should be some kind of means tested licensing. A dog will only act in a way as it has been taught and trained by its human master(s), after all. |
