WOW!
Just....WOW!

Also imagine the childhoods of animal abusers, what the hell damage was done to them to think this is acceptable behaviour. I am not saying people should not be responsible for their actions but just that like abused animals some people have little choice in their actions due to genetics and socialization.

We all have something called 'free will'.

Look, I get it, I really do, the woman is a bitch and deserves punishment, but punishment by law, not mob justice that wants to kill her and anyone she's with. What's next, hanging for feeding a live mouse to a snake? Crucifixion for slaughterhouse workers.
It's perspective and it appears it's warped out of all recognition. We're a nation of animal lovers but a quick trip down to the nearest animal shelter shatters that particular myth.

You cannot seriously be stating that the reaction is right....can you??

Obviously people react to these situations out of impulse and anger. It is doubtful that whether any of the serious threats (death etc.) were seriously motivated from the context where the persons threatening would act upon their claims. However, I'm sure it would have had the desired effect in as much to propagate fear and make the perpetrator of the act feel the pain, distress, and that awful feeling of the unknown, which the cat surely must have felt too.

However, I wouldn't have batted an eyelid if they had been killed. One less despicable c*nt in the world. ;)

It is to some degree. I'm not some bleeding heart liberal who buries their head in the sand over animal rights though, I know what can and does go on in animal shelters and so-called nature parks, and whilst every event of cruelty is subjective, it is clear (to me at least) that maliciously and purposefully causing an animal to suffer distress, pain, and misery for the purposes of fun or personal benefit is not morally or ethically right.

EDIT: Noticing MTDS has posted since I started this reply, whilst some of my above post does 'answer' some of his points, in as much expand my personal views in a little more detail, as for the dog choke chain issue, this is indeed a touchy subject. Some people call for them to be banned, but there is a degree of disciplinary action that needs to be enforced when taking on a dog - particularly a large one, which some extremists fail to understand. Choke chains (at least not to the extent that some owners use them) are not always the answer, but for most are an easy option, rather than training and integrating their dogs properly.

There are a lot of people I've come across in my relatively short experience and limited sphere of travel who are clearly not fit to own dogs (particularly certain breeds) and just do it for either selfish 'status' reasons and to look tough. I personally think there should be laws regarding certain breeds of dog in as much as there should be some kind of means tested licensing. A dog will only act in a way as it has been taught and trained by its human master(s), after all.

You didn't 'upset' me Boo, you actually made me laugh! As I said I only mention one movie and its subject matter and you assumed that I watch porn...from that one movie! You jumped on that bandwagon I mentioned the other day. Yes I've seen porn and yes I do have a disc or two but its not something I go out of my way to collect or even see and at my age an hour and half is way too long to be watching it....30 seconds is long enough!;)

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 20th September 2014 07:37 PM

Yeah, the porn film industry is a funny one. It's hard to see how it turns a profit what with the internet.

I regularly watch porn, but I don't own a single disc or a single byte of pornography. With the the wide availability of every kind of pornographic topic you can think of (and some you can't) available at the touch of a button I've never seen the point in buying porn. However, I have seen a few films etc. but they wouldn't be exactly what I'd call 'porn'... more softcore kind of stuff and they didn't really interest or arouse me either.

From reading the last couple of pages it's clear that it's not the animals that are the problem it's the humans, whether it be a prank or the mental instability of said person no matter how it came about.

Humans and their intelligence are the cause totally. Animals can't comprehend torture or cruelty and show no ability to be able to perform it, whereas it sadly is a very human trait. I've been brought up with animals my whole life so yes cruelty appalls me. I've become more or less desensitized to human upon human acts as we seem so good at it and over the centuries have perfected it and in certain cases seem to enjoy it.

Well, I hope you get a kick out of it when all the mice terrorize them and their families based on your own logic.;)

True and lions will torture hyena's for hours before killing them and won't eat them either, it appears they do it because they can.

However gentlemen, we all agree that people are wankers who abuse animals but the question really was not about that or the woman with the cat, I think that point is beyond argument, you all proved that with disturbing clarity........... The question was about historical animal violence in film and if we should show it or not.
Anything on that bit??:)
