I would buy the UK version of a film even if I have it on import. I regularly done this with the VIPCO range as I think UK horror labels should be supported.
All my major films i've 2 or 3 legitimate discs of as I have had films stolen and haven't yet been able to replace them all as some are no longer available.
If Shamless released a film I liked but already own I would buy it, cut or not as I like to collect all versions of my most favoured films.

I wouldn't buy a UK Version of a movie I already have on import.

Unless it had quite a bit more footage, or substantial extras, or was a freshly mastered OAR version, to replace an old Video Mastered FF or P&S version.

I think it's a case of treading the line with caution, at least the BBFC are quite blatant about what they will cut.

Also I wouldn't bother doing any that already have a release with many extras at least if it was an American release. Unless it's OOP and the Extras are ported over.

I just bought the US disc of NYR and managed to get hold of a double yellow amaray case from ebay,so when it arrives I shall swiftly stick the US disc in with the lovely Shamlesss version :D

I've noticed that on other forums i've visited or belong to, most people wouldn't consider buying a UK disc, even if its uncut.
I found that the UK version was looked down on by alot of collectors, with only ABUK titles getting any sort of respect.

Well if it was Vipco that would certainly be the case, their reputation preceded them.

I hardly ever buy UK disc as well even if they are uncut but thats just because i'm a bit anal retentive and hate the covers of dvds now that the BBFC have allowed companies to put the irish ratings on the covers along with the UK ratings.I mean honestly,do we really need 6 ratings (2 front,side and back) plastered all over the over the covers,are people really that lazy that the couldnt turn to the back of the box if the rating was just on the back? :mad:

As far as I know Ratings aren't required on the spines of DVDs having it on the front is a guess a hang-over from the early VRA days.

Whats the deal with the Irish censor rating on UK dvd's.
I have a dvd were its bbrc 15 and a blue 50p shape with 18 in the middle. Thats bound to confuse people .

The Irish censor has a different view on certain issues than the bbfc, especially relligion and I fail to see why any other classification should be on UK dvd's other than the bbfc, especially when they are for different ages.

Does the Irish censor just review the bbfc classification and slap a rating on as well as i've been on their website to see their views on Cannibal Holocaust etc and I couldn't find a film that they had information on.
