The Jammy Beggar Thread

Ok, then, here we go.........
I can't be the only one who has been given stuff gratis due to their preferences vis a vis cinema/music???
You know, civillians who buy certain things due to hype or for whatever reason really, but find that they just can't handle what they have bought, or find it boring etc.
Slightly more preferable to being shown 3 Ukranians 1 hammer as well......

I ramble.

Just yesterday, one of the other shops asked me to "sort" their media, as their chap has just moved away etc. Fair dos etc. Took me 80 minutes, and in amongst this was a sealed copy of the 2009 dvd reissue of Fawlty Towers. Which I offered to pay for etc. The manager wouldn't hear of this.....and I'l be doing their media from now on, or until they get another anal bugger in haha.

So, since I'm not given stuff every day, this is open to anyone, tales of luck and just being in the right place at the time maybe??

Good luck!

I had some Hawkwind videos back in the 80's, and (because of the visual effects) I found them unwatchable

Dr Who - The Movie (BBC UK) still sealed!
South Park Series 1 (US Fox)

They can't/won't sell R1 stuff, so I get first pick. The McGann was a bonus.

It felt just like Christmas for me this morning as i just spent the last few hours sorting through the boxes and bags i was given and found some great stuff.

Included in the bundle was retro consoles, controllers and games, HD DVD's and a player, dvds, blurays and to my surprise some Marvel/DC, Star Wars action figures and what looks to be Gatchaman vehicles. Now the hard bit is i have to decide what i want to keep and what needs to go.

Justin101 14th August 2016 10:16 AM

It's all in such good condition! Congratulations. Shame about the HD-DVD, unless you have a player that is...

Grimes is a Canadian lass who should be on the radio just as much as Rhianna imo. This album at least ;) The majority of her stuff is er, unusual to say the least. Same goes for Maria M ;)

Clark and Portishead
I like Grimes but not Art Angels, it's far too poppy and conventional for my tastes, but my other half swears by it and he went to see her twice on her last tour. I stayed at home

I missed that back and forth with Dem  Yes it was very much the point and she made no bones about it. I was impressed by how much her studio wizardry had come on from previous records, in fact from Geidi Primes to Halfaxa to Darkbloom to Visions the progression is very apparent, but Art Angels was a step too far for me

Clark on the other hand gets better and better each album, his new one, Death Peak is amazing. I'd say the same for Portishead, 3 is the best thing they've done!
