Most Dangerous Films Ever Made!

Hi everyone,

Over the course of movie history, a countless number of animals have been injured and killed for the camera. Whether it was purposefully (Cannibal Holocaust) or 'accidentatly' (Ben Hur), but what about us humans?

I've recently come across the insane film from the 80's called Roar - anyone seen it? - which has been named the most dangerous movie (to make) of all time. Over 70 people of the cast and crew were injured whilst filming this film with tonnes of big cats.

Just check out the trailer - it's crazy!

So, what are some other films that you know off with a dangerous and even lethal history? Not for animals, but humans?

Now, I'm not talking about the likes of Traces/ Faces Of Death which used footage elsewhere for the film. Nope, I'm talking about films where the cast and crew put their lives at risk to make the movie. Perhaps someone tragically died or was injured making the movie (most famously with The Crow).

What others do you know?

There will be more, but the film that jumped right into my head on reading this was the Abyss.

From what its been said James Cameron was a complete scumbag during filming.

The most famous was the scene where Ed Harris's character had to swim under water for an incredible distance without any breathing apparatus and almost die.

He made Ed Harris swim underwater for an incredible distance with no breathing apparatus and almost die just for authenticity of the scene.

Quote:

Notable participants: James Cameron, Ed Harris
What happened: Even today, the quickest way to piss off Ed Harris is to ask him about the production of "The Abyss." And why is he still so hot about it? James Cameron seems to always test his casts and his crews, and for a scene involving a long underwater swim from one part of the Deepcore base to another, Cameron asked Harris and his co-star Leo Burmester to make the swim for real, with no scuba gear at all. At the end of their swim, they were supposed to go up a ladder, where they would find waiting air tubes for them to catch a breath. After the first take, Cameron decided that the shot didn't look good enough, so he moved the air tubes up an addition five to ten feet. When they made the swim and the tubes weren't where they expected them to be, both Harris and Burmester panicked. They were able to figure out what happened, but when they came out of the water, Harris laid into the filmmaker, furious at having his safety put at risk just for a shot in a movie. Harris refused to do publicity for the film, and Cameron went on to push other collaborators on other films with that same sense of recklessness. Maybe that explains the official crew shirt for the film that read "Life's Abyss, And Then You Dive."
