With the exception of George Lazenby, of course. He was anything but 'cool'. A lousy actor in a pretty good film ruined by silly sped-up chase scenes.

I watched Rango again for the first time in years recently. Brought a smile to my face with the Fear and Loathing reference.

To clarify my point from a few pages ago...

...I wasn't questioning the choice of character or film, but the fact that the pictures chosen depicted guns. I'm sure there are hundreds of pictures of Chow Yun Fat, Clint Eastwood et al from the same films, showing their 'coolness' but without the weaponry

But maybe the boys need big guns to compensate for something!

I would also point out how many 'cool' characters chain smoked as well. For me it's a style thing. Chow yun fat in the killer is the epitome of cool to me but I wouldn't advocate either guns or tabs.

Also the ciggies have very phallic connotations (or so I'm told!)

Make of that what you will

No guns or cigs, just a hat.... John Saxon does Italian Cool in Tenebrae...

To quote Sigmund Freud: "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar".

Regarding Chow Yun Fat be pictured with a gun, I'm guessing that's because Kierarts thinks Ah Jong is a cool film character. He is an assassin in one of the most famous 'bullet ballet' films, so to have the picture of him holding a firearm makes complete sense. It would be the same if it was 'Dirty' Harry Callahan with his .44 Magnum.
