My thanks to everyone who contributed a list of their favourite witchcraft films. The topic for this week is usually associated with David Cronenberg, but some of the films which fit in the category predate Cronenberg's work numerous filmmakers including Stuart Gordon, Brian Yuzna, and Frank Henenlotter have also made films which have contributed to this weird and wonderful subgenre. It might be worth using this definition for reference: "a horror film genre in which the main feature is the graphically depicted destruction or degeneration of a human body or bodies." |
BODY HORROR FILMS Body Melt (Overuse of the V drug causes hallucinations and body change) Cabin Fever (Teens exposed to contaminated water) Eraserhead (The baby being born deformed and the woman in the heater) The Fly (Seth Brundle DNA change with a Fly) Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth ( The nightclub scene, pinhead creating an army in his own vision) The Human Centipede (One mad doctor looking for the perfect creation of his own) Martyrs (Inflictin pain in extreme ways to capture the eyes of a person dying) Rabid (A young woman with a unusual growth that can infect others she contacts using her body) Shivers (A parasite infecting the human body transferred from host to the other and turn the population into one orgy) Taxidermia (The gernerations of men from one family looking for a thrill with the pleasure of the body) |
