Quite fond of the Nostril Picker myself too.
Island of death is another in the so bad its good league for me.

iluvdvds@Cult Labs 2nd August 2009 10:15 AM

Watched Carnival Of Blood last night. Now that is definetly a so bad it's good in a weird sort of way. I lost count of the amount of microphones which managed to sneek onscreen! :pound:

i was just about to write a post questioning if this was one of the most underrated zombie film out there. The acting is shit (but who cant love bruce campbells dubbing), but the special effects are fantastic I love the story and even though it was shot on 16mm I think it still manages to look extremely atmospheric with some great shot choices. I think it an amazing first film especially as it was made by a 19 year old

A zombie film I love but can only be described as shitty beyond belief is zombie 90 extrerme pestilance

That's one of the titles that make up The Violent Shit Trilogy isn't it? I have the third entry 'Zombie Doom' and it's terrible - lots of gore though.

BioZombie 5th August 2009 12:11 AM

I have only seen Zombie 90 so am not sure Bizarre, but I think youre right.

And I meant to say Dead Next Door was shot on super 8mm not 16.

Pete 5th August 2009 12:09 PM

I watched Zombie Holcaust last night and it gets worse every time i see it!

NO it's not

the violent shit trilogy consist of

violent shit
violent shit 2 - mother hold my hand
violent shit 3 - zombie doom

zombie 90 is completly unrelated

I tried to order this once from the US under the movie's alternative title Doctor Butcher M.D. ( I think it was either on the Paragon or Wizard Video label), and it was seized under obscenity laws by Customs after they opened my parcel. They must have had a right laugh at all the ridiculous shenanigans and phoney looking gore fx in this classic cheesefest! I've now got the Shriek Show Zombie Holocaust DVD, which I'm more than happy with, and it remains
one of my favourite 'so bad, it's good!' movies.

Cheers for the clarification alex.

Still Schnaas though isn't it?

alex s 7th August 2009 04:53 PM

yeah it is still schnass, not quite sure when it was made/released i think it was inbetween VS1 AND 2.

Also i have seen some sites refer to Nikos the Impaler as VS4.

As for German Splatter at the moment i am enjoying early Timo Rose especially Psycho Jack and Space Wolf. but cannot find The Legend of Moonlight Mountain anywhere

I've seen Space Wolf, but not the other two. Any good?

K7B Mutation is probably the best Rose effort I've seen.

Nikos the Impaler is probably one of my favourite German Splatter films. I also like Ittenbach's Beyond the Limits. Some of his stuff isn't fantastic though - Legion of the Dead was laughable :pound: (and not in the way intended).

Any recommendations for a fellow fan of German Splatter? :)

Psycho Jack is good can recommend that if you like Space Wolf.

I have not seen Legend of Moonlight Mountain as previously stated that is on my wants list, along with Rout City, in the name of gore, last days of humanity

K7B is good i agree there are a further 3 in the series
mutation 2 - generation dead
mutation 3 - century of the dead (haven't got this one either)
mutation annihilation - a mixture of K7B & generation dead

as for Ittenbach the only films of his i really like are
black past
burning moon
garden of love
chain reaction

stay clear of
riverplay & familienradgeber

other German Splatter i can recommend are
Noctem
Psychotica
lord of the undead
The Butcher 1,2,3
zombie commando
zombie the ressurection
blutrausch
sadistcum

Would you recommend Dawn of the Mummy then? I got most of the other cheesy zombie flicks like Burial Ground, Hell of the Living Dead, Nightmare City and Zombie Holocaust, and love 'em all. :loco:

vincenzo 8th August 2009 06:36 PM

If you love Burial Ground, Nightmare City etc (as I do) then Dawn Of The Mummy is definitely for you. I used to have the old video version which removed basically every scene of gore in the film. The Anchor Bay DVD is extremely dark but completely uncut.

Very slow paced film but still great fun.

iluvdvds@Cult Labs 13th August 2009 02:03 PM

I just ordered King Kong Escapes DVD - only 40p (exc. p&p)! Can't wait for this!!!! :woot:

Still never watched this.I've had the bloody thing since ABUK released it as well....

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 14th August 2009 04:44 PM

I don't really care much for Dawn of the Mummy... it has it's moments, but I found it to be fairly dull and a bit of a chore to watch to be honest.

The Apex video was unwatchable. It was pre-cut by over 10 mins and even then Ferman found another 3 (senseless) minutes to cut out. By the time he'd finished it could have passed as a 15.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 15th August 2009 07:07 PM

Did it end quickly when you disagreed with him and a chrome sphere came flying through your window Vince?

vincenzo 15th August 2009 07:12 PM

Basically yes. Towards the end of the (relatively enjoyable) conversation I mentioned The Exorcist and Straw Dogs, and I could feel tendrils of barbed wire crawling down the phone line. :drama:

We didn't exchange christmas cards.

Your phone was tapped from that moment on Vince.....just as well you never mentioned a certain Black and Decker powertool........
