Where's the best place to get the 'heads up' on this sort of info Paul?

It was the stand alone release I ordered from Play, but I had checked on Movietyme, forgetting that Play supply Canadian discs!:doh:

Anyone of you multi region owners out there fancy a trade?

WARNING FOLKS!
I CAN CONFIRM AS PAUL RIGHTLY SAID THAT PLAY'S VERSION I.E. CANADIAN/ALLIANCE ATLANTIS VERSION OF ROB ZOMBIE'S HALLOWEEN II IS INDEED REGION LOCKED!

If you're buying it,buy it from Axel Music or Movietyme.

Now,any Blu Ray Multi region owners want to trade?;)

Daemonia 25th January 2010 05:59 PM

Cheers for the heads up, reaps. I'll be sure to avoid the Canadian release, then. :thumb:

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 25th January 2010 06:01 PM

Yeah.I can sit and look at the cool artwork until I get a real American one.
Drool!

Stephen@Cult Labs 25th January 2010 06:04 PM

Does the canadian disc have the same extras as it's U.S. counterpart?

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 25th January 2010 06:07 PM

Canadian disc has the following Steve;
DELETED AND ALTERNATE SCENES
AUDITION FOOTAGE
MAKE UP TEST FOOTAGE
BLOOPER REEL
CAPTAIN CLEGG MUSIC VIDEOS
COMMENTARY WITH ZOMBIE
UNCLE SEYMOUR STAND UP ROUTINES

Stephen@Cult Labs 25th January 2010 06:09 PM

Bloody Play! I'd send it back to them if I was you.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 25th January 2010 06:19 PM

Two chances. It states you must have a multi region player.
My fault entirely.I saw on Movietyme and Axel that it was confirmed region free.
Play are always very quick with their DVD's,but it's been that long since I bought a r1 disc from them,I forgot they sell bloody Canadian discs, until Paul kindly pointed it out....

BTW Paul, what did you do with your double pack?

Rob Strange 25th January 2010 06:38 PM

I had no idea that Play sell Canadian blu rays. I'm glad I know, because I do buy from them quite often.

Daemonia 25th January 2010 07:23 PM

Isn't it a bit of a contradiction to call yourself Play.USA and then sell Canadian discs? Surely they should be Play.ca..?

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 25th January 2010 07:26 PM

It is mate.That's why I stopped using them.Those bloody bi-lingual covers.

Rob Strange 25th January 2010 08:00 PM

Ah, so it's PlayUSA only? Yeah, it's cheeky alright - small print or not.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 25th January 2010 08:05 PM

Anyone who sells the Canadian version.;)

Rob Strange 25th January 2010 08:24 PM

Of course, Play UK only sell US titles through 3rd party sellers.

nekromantik 25th January 2010 11:14 PM

PlayUSA has its warehouse in Canada so thats why it carrys canadian stock.

Daemonia 26th January 2010 12:14 AM

Which begs the question as to why a company calling itself PlayUSA bases itself in Canada. That'd be like Arrow being a UK company based in France and selling French discs in UK shops. It just seems....not right, somehow. I'm not knocking their service - as by and large most North American releases are the same regardless of origin. But in some cases it does make a difference, as highlighted by reaps here.

vipco 26th January 2010 12:38 AM

Are Toolbox or The Crazies gonna get UK releases.?

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 26th January 2010 10:28 PM

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 26th January 2010 10:36 PM

Stephen@Cult Labs 26th January 2010 10:44 PM

Unfortunately most of my discs are region A locked.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 26th January 2010 10:45 PM

No worries.

vipco 26th January 2010 11:25 PM

I dont know much about internet shopping so would anyone be able to recommend me a reliable internet BluRay site please. ?

Also, what options do they have for payment as I dont have PayPal, and do you pay them in dollars.? Stupid Q's i know, but i've never bought from a US shop before.

Thanks.

Daemonia 27th January 2010 01:02 AM

I buy my US Blu-ray's from Amazon.com. When you get to the checkout you'll see the price in UK £'s, so you know exactly what you're shelling out. They'll accept UK debit cards as well as the more universal credit cards. Failing that, try MovieTyme, they're a reliable company too and accept UK payment.

nekromantik 27th January 2010 07:08 AM

Vips I use

MovieTyme
AxelMusic
DVDWorldUSA
Amazon US

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 27th January 2010 07:19 AM

You can even buy US Blu-Ray titles from Amazon.co.uk on Marketplace vips. A lot of the time they are cheaper than Amazon US.

Stephen@Cult Labs 27th January 2010 11:29 AM

Saw this list on Blu-ray.com of some of Warners U.S. titles for this year and being Warner....region free. Some good ones in there as well....

The Getaway (1972)/The Getaway (1994) (double feature)
Deep Blue Sea
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective/Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (double feature)
National Lampoon's European Vacation
What's Up, Doc?
Forbidden Planet
Lost in Space
Mars Attacks!
THX 1138: Director's Cut
The Maltese Falcon
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Three Kings
The Goonies: 25th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition
Ben-Hur
Ben-Hur: Ultimate Collector's Edition
Mutiny on the Bounty

Daemonia 27th January 2010 12:28 PM

Oh yes, I'll have Deep Blue Sea, thank you very much. It's very much a guilty pleasure of mine. It's a bit crap, really - but I really like it and watch it frequently. :)

Now waht I'd really like is a Blu-ray release of the House on Haunted Hill remake. Another one I shouldn't like, but I do.

Nice to see Forbidden Planet making the transition from HD DVD to Blu-ray. The HD DVD looked stunning. And hopefully they'll include the bonus feature of The Invisible Boy like they did on the HD DVD.

Stephen@Cult Labs 27th January 2010 12:42 PM

And I'll have The Getaway Double Feature.I'm surprised they didn't just release the '94 version since the original is already out on blu-ray.

Daemonia 27th January 2010 02:30 PM

I've also read that Blue Underground are preparing Django for a Blu-ray release. Hope this turns out to be true!

vipco 27th January 2010 03:34 PM

Thanks for the info guy's, much appreciated .

One more thing, when I watched the UK release of NOTLD on BluRay , the picture didn't fill the screen, is that the way its ment to be.?(The newly shoot extras do though)
I can change the setting to fill the screen but will I lose any PQ.?

Rob Strange 27th January 2010 04:09 PM

Aye - the aspect ratio is 4:3, or 1.33:1, so the black bars on the side are normal.

vipco 27th January 2010 07:11 PM

Thanks Rob .
